Winnipeg Jets @ Buffalo Sabres – 3/30

Both of these teams come in playing well.  Winnipeg is 7-3-0 in its last 10 with a +6 goal differential.  Buffalo is 6-2-2 in its last 10 but is playing a lot of close games.  It has a -3 GD during that period and its last 6 games have all been decided by a goal.  So the Sabres are doing just enough to get points.  Connor Hellebuyck has been a horse in net starting 56 games already to the tune of a 2.94 GAA and .991 SV%.  Craig Anderson has been solid in 22 starts but better in his last 5 with a 3-1-1 record and 2.77 GAA.  

However the key to this game is that the Jets’ leading scorer Kyle Connor will miss tonight’s game with COVID.  Connor has 82 points in 67 games and also leads the team in road scoring with 46 points.  Defenseman Nate Schmidt will also be out.  

So I feel very strongly about Buffalo covering the +1.5 puck line, but feel that they could also win this game out right.  At -190 I would pair the puck line up with another home dog tonight, like Detroit, Arizona or Seattle. 

Another interesting note: Pierre-Luc Dubois needs one more goal to reach 100 for his career. He hasn’t scored a goal in three games but has 12 points – 5 goals, 7 assists – in 12 career games against Buffalo. With Connor being ruled out the Jets will need Dubois to generate offense which is why I like him to reach that milestone tonight. I’ll be putting a half unit on PLD o0.5 goals +180 at FanDuel.

Result: Winnipeg 3 Buffalo 2 F/SO. Buffalo played hard but ran out of steam in the third period. They had no chance against Hellebuyck in the shoot out. HOWEVER, we were robbed of a Dubois goal. Dubois shot a puck that was slowly traveling over the goal line and would have gone in. When it was halfway over the line Blake Wheeler touched it to rob Dubois of his 100th career goal. As long as Connor remains out with COVID I will play the PLD goal prop.
